Letter to the Editor - July 4: Don't bypass right option

TEN years ago when the chosen route for the Coffs Harbour Pacific Highway bypass was decided, the very real noise problems associated with the Sapphire to Woolgoolga section being built in built-up areas were not known or even imagined as being so bad.

Before there is a repeat of the northern suburbs residents' problems regarding the highway noise, Member for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser is doing the right thing in rethinking the route before a lot more residents are similarly affected.

The chosen route around the city hills will form a natural sound shell throwing the highway noise back into Coffs Harbour city.

It is not too late to have the courage to right a wrong decision made years ago when the result of building the bypass close to residential properties has proven to be so wrong.
