Letter to the Editor - July 22: Sharks left unchecked

SURE we need sharks otherwise the whole food balance and health of our oceans would be lost.

But just like crocodiles in Australia grey white shark populations have been left to increase exponentially under ill thought out protections.

As Mick Fanning's brush with a shark, presumably a white pointer, showed they are opportunistic hunters.

If we continue to overfish our oceans than we must accept our fate as bait. It's survival of the fittest.
