Letter to the Editor - December 10: Booklet propaganda

HOW much money did council spend on the voting package posted to all ratepayers? Apart from the cost and waste of resources, the 20-page colour booklet is nothing more than propaganda.

One whole page is devoted to colour pics of decaying local roads and how they are classified. There was plenty of room to give us information on exactly what money is spent on all council business. Perhaps then we could contribute informed input on spending priorities. But no, we are left with further deterioration of public assets or an 8.14% increase in rates. This is a cynical stunt by council to prod us into supporting massive rate rises under the guise of community consultation.
