Lengthy delay at airport

QANTASLINK passengers heading to Sydney on Saturday were delayed for five hours at Coffs Harbour Regional Airport.

A warning light in the 74-seat Dash-8 indicated a fault reportedly connected to the engines as flight QF2018 came into land at 12:45.

An engineer had to be flown up from Sydney to inspect and fix the problem.

Scheduled to depart at 1pm, flight QF2109 ultimately left the tarmac at 6pm.

Earlier in the day, a QANTAS plane heading to Melbourne was delayed for an hour after a routine pre-flight check revealed that a screw was missing from the pylon connecting an engine to a wing.
