Lego lovers to show creations at brick event

WHEN Steve Lilliman isn't on the road driving trucks he is building them - out of Lego.

Truck driver Mr Lilliman is one of about 30 exhibitors at the Toowoomba Brick event which is being held today and tomorrow.

The event will showcase the Lego creations of many talented builders.

"I have been into Lego for about three or four years now, not long enough," he said.

"I started building Lego truck with the boys (two sons) and gradually got more fanatic about getting them realistic looking."

His sons, now aged nine and 10, as well as his wife all enjoyed building Lego together and had "heaps" in the house.

"I have been trying to build more realistic trucks that you would see out on the road," he said.

"It is just the enjoyment of doing it. It is stress relief and gets the brain ticking away and coming up with new ideas."

Organiser Ken Wilson said the exhibitors were all showcasing their own creations from their personal collections.

"Some have only been into it a couple of months or even years," he said.

"Some have been into it for quite some time, some never got out of it since they were kids."

Mr Wilson said the big appeal was the creativity, construction, engineering and it was also a way to unwind.

"You are only limited by your imagination," he said.

"So if you can imagine it, you can build it. It's just a matter of having the right parts and the right shapes."

The Toowoomba Brick Event will be held today and tomorrow from 9am to 3.30pm at The Clive Berghofer Centre at the Toowoomba Showgrounds.
