3 dead, 8 injured after gunman opens fire in movie theatre
UPDATE: THE death toll from a movie theatre shooting in Louisiana has risen to three, including the gunman himself.
There are reports that eight other people are injured after the gunman, described as an 'older white man', opened fire 20 minutes into a screening of the movie 'Trainwreck'.
EARLIER: TWO people, including a gunman, have been killed at a shooting at a movie threatre in Lafayette Louisiana.
Louisiana State Police said there were "multiple victims" and the shooter situation is no longer active.
Officials said they received the call at 7:30pm CT.One female victim was pronounced dead and the gunman reportedly killed themself.
Update as of 7/23, 8:45pm: Police are still working the scene at a confirmed shooting at the Grand 16. From reporter Claire Taylor: City Marshal Brian Pope has confirmed for The Daily Advertiser that six people were injured in a shooting Thursday night at the Grand Theatre. The shooter then turned the gun on himself, Pope said, and is dead.
One witness in the theater told CBS that the shooting occurred 20 minutes into the film "Trainwreck."
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal released a statement saying he was monitoring the situation.
