EVER wondered how a cartoonist can take a pencil and turn a simple piece of paper into something to make you laugh out load or reflect on the world around you?
You now have the chance to find out how it’s done.
As part of its popular school holiday cartoon workshops, the Bunker Cartoon Gallery is presenting a series with Australian cartooning legend Roger Fletcher.
Roger is the creator of many cartoons, including Australia’s longest-running adventure comic strip, Torkan.
The series of seven workshops starts with a free-wheeling Tricks of the Trade workshop for adults only on July 8 from 5.30pm.
There will also be three workshops on July 9 and 10, with the first on both days aimed at ages eight and up, while the following two workshops are aimed at ages 12 years and up.
These workshops will look at developing cartoon characters, backgrounds, costumes and how to make characters “jump off the page” at the reader, as well as explore storytelling and drawing techniques, tips and tricks.
The cost of the first workshop booking is $20, with additional workshops $15 each. All equipment will be supplied.
Early bookings are recommended as they tend to sell out, with places limited to 30 per session.
Payment is required at the time of booking to secure a seat. For bookings and information, phone Bunker Cartoon Gallery 66517343.
