Brendan shoots his way to top

COFFS Harbour Rifle Club (CHRC) and local franchise motor dealer Skinner Motors have combined to reward the rising stars of the sport of shooting.

The Coffs Harbour Toyota perpetual trophy was this week presented to junior club champion Brendan Lean and cash support will also allow fledgling members to further their competitive careers.

Brendan’s achievements were applauded by CHRC official Geoffrey Hart.

“He is a very polite and well-mannered young man with a very high level of marksmanship,” he said.

“Brendan indeed portrays a very good image of our sport and I would say that if all teenagers were like him, we would only require half of the police force that we currently have.”

During 2010, the young sportsman took part in several high-level shoots.

At the New South Wales Rifle Championships he placed second in rimfire and fourth in centrefire, while at the national event he finished fourth in rimfire and ninth in centrefire.

“These are excellent results considering that Brendan actually competes in A-grade with the best of the best,” Hart added.
