League men’s convoy ready to roll
THE Men Of League are embarking on their first ever motoring event and they're coming through Coffs Harbour.
Departing from the Sunshine Coast, the convoy of 10 distinctive cars will wind their way down across the border, through Inverell, and then across to Coffs Harbour to stay the night of Monday, May 2.
North Coast Men Of League president Peter Barrett said to celebrate their arrival, a special function would be held at the Big Banana.
"We're inviting all Men Of League members, their friends and family, to come along, meet the group and view the cars from 4pm," Peter said.
"Some of the eye-catching cars include a 1957 Chev Station Wagon, a late model Monaro, the iconic GT Falcon and a Mercedes CLK convertible.
"Then come along to the Coffs Hotel for dinner, a few drinks and a fun night of stories, laughs and a raffle for the Men of League.
"There is no entry fee.
"Just come along and join in the fun.
"Former Penrith Panther Steve Carter, who is also coach of the Group 2 Gladiators representative side, will be there along with other local league legends.
"You don't need to be a member, so come along and invite your friends."
League legends Alfie Langer and Kerrod Walters joined the honour roll of personalities at the rally launch held at the Pelican Waters Tavern.
Organiser Dennis McGuire stressed the event was not a car rally or a race.
"Those taking part do not need motorsport or navigation experience," he said.
"Just a reliable vehicle, a good sense of humour and the urge to have some adventure and fun with like-minded people."
