You raised $6,500 to help Crystal

THE Coffs Coast community has dug deeply to help little Crystal Rose Harte and her battle with illness.

While Crystal was in a Sydney hospital having treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, thousands of

people turned out for a charity rugby league match last weekend to show their support for her and her family.

Held during a Sawtell and South Grafton match, $6500 was raised from a jersey auction, bar sales, monster raffles and face painting.

Every cent raised at the charity game will help pay for expenses such as travel to and from Sydney, accommodation and medical treatment costs.

Crystal's uncle and Sawtell captain-coach Steven Spencer said despite the early rain, the day was a great success

"I'm pretty emotional about the event to see how many people came here and the number of people who helped," he said.

Crystal's big sister Bree-Ann, who is to be her bone marrow donor, kicked off the ball before the first grade match began.
