Last days to see Chats' madcap comedy

CHATS Productions' Arsenic and Old Lace is proving a smash hit, with rave reviews from audiences.

Director David Quinn says he has been both surprised and delighted with the response to the show, especially after several cast members and the director endured a number of health and family crises during rehearsals.

Audiences have praised both the polished performances and the professional presentation of the show.

One of the stars of the show is veteran performer Shirley Barnett who plays an elderly spinster aunt who has taken up poisoning old men as a hobby.

This is expected to be the last opportunity to see Shirley Barnett on stage, as the Coffs Coast Theatre doyenne says she will retire from acting after Arsenic, although she will continue to direct shows.

This classic dark comedy will have its final performances this weekend at the Jetty Memorial Theatre at 8pm on Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, with the last show a matinee at 2pm on Sunday, July 27.

Tickets are adults $18, concession $16, Groups 10 or more $15 (box office only)

Theatre goers can buy tickets online, from the theatre or by phoning 6652 8088, 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
