Kyrgios's car ad attracts social media flak

AUSSIE tennis star Nick Kyrgios has taken the unusual step of advertising his luxury car for sale on social media.

The world No.16, who is gearing up for Australia's Davis Cup quarter-final clash with the US this weekend, advertised his 2015 BMW F80 M3 on Facebook, asking any of his 250,000-plus followers to "inbox" him if interested.

"Alright - I don't usually post stuff like this on social media... but special exception this time... this was my first car I ever bought, owned from new. The time has come to let it go," Kyrgios wrote.

"BMW F80 M3 2015. As mentioned earlier - owned from new, 1 owner. Meticulously cared for, regularly serviced, paint protect, only 16,000 km, near new tyres, immaculate car, bone leather interior. Anyone that is interested, please inbox for more information."

The basic model had a suggested retail price of $156,430 when new but it's likely Kyrgios spent more for upgrades. The 21-year-old has amassed more than $US4.2 million in career prizemoney.

Predictably, Kyrgios's post attracted plenty of sarcastic replies but the in-form star gave back as good as he got.

"WHAT ARE THE ODDS!? Been looking for a car around the $6000 range. Hit me up and we can sort it out," Denyan Claxton wrote, to which Kyrgios replied: "I'll send you the petrol tank lid."

Benjamin Martinez added: "Someone needs money for the clay season's travel" with Kyrgios firing back: "Semis of Miami paid 280K - probably not mate."

Other quips included: "Bernard Tomic might be interested. Give him a call as the cops keep taking his other car", "Thanasai banged your car mate" and "Hear you're looking for a coach. I don't have the qualifications, but I'll do it for free if I get the car. Training will consist of plenty of free throws".
