Knights smash Sea Eagles

A SPIRITED Newcastle outfit dealt Manly's top-four hopes a significant blow with an upset 32-6 thrashing at Hunter Stadium on Saturday evening.

Led superbly by half-back Tyrone Roberts, the Knights put on their best performance of the season in belting an understrength Sea Eagles six tries tries to one.

The Knights led 10-0 at half-time and 22-0 midway through the second half before running out comprehensive winners.

Despite being without late withdrawal Steve Matai and Glenn and Brett Stewart, Manly was still expected to take home the points.

But some tough goal-line defence in the first half and scintillating attack in the second half that yielded four tries ensured the hosts enjoyed just their seventh win of the season.
