Woman faces assault charge

A COFFS Harbour woman who allegedly threatened a family member with two kitchen knives during a violent domestic dispute this week has appeared in court.

The 19-year-old was arrested on intimidation, weapons and domestic violence charges after police were called to an Oriana St home on Tuesday at 6.50pm.

Police allege the woman assaulted her sister during the dispute and ran to the kitchen of the home and grabbed the knives from a draw and threatened the victim whilst armed.

Police arrived on scene and the woman was questioned by officers.

She was arrested and taken to the Coffs Harbour Police Station where she was refused bail and remanded in police cells for the night.

The woman appeared in the local court on Wednesday facing charges of armed with intent to commit a seriously indictable offence, intimidation and assault.

Police have taken out an apprehended violence order on behalf of the victim.
