No bail for armed attacker

A MAN accused of last week’s knife attacks on a teenage girl and her dad in Calala Place, has been refused bail in court.

Marley Keith Laurie, 19, appeared before magistrate David Degnan in the Coffs Harbour Local Court yesterday on 14 charges, including aggravated break and enter and reckless wounding.

Police will allege that Laurie broke into the home last Friday and at 9.40pm inflicted a large cut to the girl’s jaw, which required 25 stitches.

It’s alleged the girl’s father sustained a cut around the back of his head and ear.

The court also heard Laurie is accused of breaking into a Meadow Street home last week where a Holden Commodore was stolen.

He was arrested at a Caltowie Place home at 12.40pm on Thursday.

Police found Laurie was on bail over a sexual assault allegation at Nimbin and an alleged break-in at a Lismore Hotel.

He is due to reappear in court on November 9.
