Kids going primal with holiday play

IT MIGHT be tempting to stay in the air-conditioning over the summer holidays, but Clint Bauer is motivating kids to get outside with Primal Play.

Primal Play is a series of 'structured unstructured' outdoor sessions with a focus on movement and play.

While the regular weekly classes run for 30 minutes, Clint is extending them to 45 minutes over the holidays to enable kids to burn more energy.

"There are underlynig benefits of health, but the kids don't need to know that,” he said.

"They need to not worry about the physiology behind it, it's more about having fun and getting out of their comfort zone in a gentle way without knowing they're doing it.”

Mr Bauer is a personal trainer who began Primal Play after running similar groups for adults and realising it would also be suitable for kids.

Classes are held in Coolum at Lions Park each week with additional locations at times available over the school holidays.

"They have an absolute ball. There's lot of laughter, confidence boosting, and it's really good for kids who are a bit shy or need to calm down.”

Bookings are essential and can be made at www.primalinfluence.com.
