The hockey season for the senior players may have officially begun last weekend but the junior competition is set for a giant warm-up this Saturday.

A free round robin fun day is being held from 8.00am for juniors with each team in the under 9s, under 11s, under 13s and under 15s to play several matches on Saturday morning.

The hockey association has added that this Saturday morning is a great opportunity for new players to come along and see what the game is all about with all of the clubs present for kids to sign up for the winter season.

The junior’s competition will commence in earnest once school resumes on Saturday, April 24.

Registrations are also being taken this Saturday for Minkey Hockey, a non-competitive skills-based program ideal for children five to eight years of age.

All new players will need to have a mouthguard, shin pads, hockey stick and wear joggers or similar shoes with grip suitable for playing on the grass and the turf.
