Key weekend games for footy clubs at home and away
FOOTY: The Warwick Water Rats are the only senior footy club from the Southern Downs with a home game this weekend.
Warwick will be at home to St George from 1.30pm Saturday at rugby union headquarters, Risdon Oval.
After an easy win against Toowoomba Bears last weekend, the Water Rats will be aiming to maintain their top form and make sure the side makes the B-grade finals this season.
Forward Brad Johnson has been a constant in the Water Rats line-up in recent seasons and he will be a key player on Saturday.
AFL team away
THE Redbacks travel to Lyle Vidler Oval, in Kingaroy, for a game against South Burnett in AFL Darling Downs fixtures on Saturday.
Odds are the game will be tougher than last weekend when Warwick had an easy win at home against bottom side Chinchilla.
Warwick had stars across the pack, including club president Ben Lubben, who played in the ruck for the first time last week.
Past AFLDD Fairest and Best Tyhe Clarkson is in top form for Warwick along with two regular scorers Ben Heppell and Nick Donges.
Key Wolves game
THE Wolves men play Gatton on Saturday at 7pm at Gatton and desperately need a win to stay in touch with the top four in Football Toowoomba fixtures.
Warwick is on 11 points, eight behind fourth-placed Willowburn and seven behind Rockville.
Last weekend, Warwick went down 4-0 to a USQ side which leads the competition on 35 points.
In women's football, the Karen Gilchrist-coached Warwick plays at Highfields on Sunday. Junior games for all ages at Queens Park on Saturday.
