The Coffs Coast Advocate

Kath's keen to make it a great holiday

ONE local woman is about to change the face of tourism on the Coffs Coast.

After 21 years working with the local real estate industry at the Coffs Coast Advocate, Kath Tucker realised there was a gap in the market for a one-stop accommodation service.

Kath combined her passion for the local area with her enthusiasm as a single woman going into business for the first time and opened the doors of Coffs Accommodation Company on January 5.

The business is essentially a booking service for all types of accommodation and holiday activities, catering for all budgets and needs - it can even find a boarder for your spare room.

“My goal is to get tourists here for one or two weeks instead of one of two nights and we can do that by offering a service where they can book their accommodation and holiday activities at the same time,” Kath said.

“For example, if you are a Melbourne working couple you can go through us, book your children into a week-long surf camp where they can learn to surf, snorkel, kayak and jetty jump whilst husband and wife relax and rekindle the flame.”

Other activities available include helicopter flights, sky diving, visits to the Pet Porpoise Pool, and more.

“Everything can be organised from the one location, either by email or coming into our Coffs office,” Kath said.

“Even local couples who want that romantic weekend away but don't want to spend hours on the road - we can find a romantic hideaway.”

Individual requirements such as pet- and wheelchair-friendly accommodation are catered to, regardless of whether you are after a beach getaway or a break in the beautiful hinterlands of the Bellinger Valley.

Businesses and sporting groups are not forgotten either.

“We can co-ordinate accommodation, catering, conference facilities and team-building activities for companies, local or visiting, and the same for sporting groups,” Kath said.

“We can even find interim accommodation for employees transferring to Coffs within companies like banks, government departments, health industry and multi-national companies, short term or long term.”

The business will soon have in excess of 100 properties to choose from, with options including everything from the height of luxury to holiday apartments, motels and backpackers' accommodation.

“We provide a unique and affordable service that assists both the property owner and the visitors alike. We encourage property and business owners to contact us or call into our office to see what we have to offer,” Kath said.

Coffs Accommodation Company also provides holiday and permanent property management and is fully licensed to list and sell properties. They are currently offering an introductory fee of 6.6 per cent for permanent residential management.
