Kangaroos killed after hit and runs near Coffs Harbour

A DRIVER deliberately ran over four kangaroos in a suburban area of Moonee Beach this morning.

Police are investigating reports of a four-wheel-drive who targeted the kangaroos on Heritage Park Dr and Palm Grove Pl, at around 4am this morning.

Nearby resident and WIRES volunteer Martin van Bokhoven attended to the four animals who were suffering serious injuries including broken legs and hips.

The animals were assessed at the scene before being euthanised.

One of the injured kangaroos had been carrying a joey which is now receiving veterinary care.

Coffs-Clarence Police say tyre tracks were visible near each of the kangaroos.

Anyone with information that could help identify the vehicle or the person driving is urged to call Police on 6691 0799.
