Jetty closes to get some TLC

THE Coffs Harbour Jetty was quiet over the weekend, but it had nothing to do with the winter tourist season.

Last week Coffs Harbour City Council started $1.6 million of repair work that will see the Jetty closed until December.

More than 100 piles are to be repaired, four will be completely replaced and a series of associated structural repairs will also be carried out.

The car park at the base of the Jetty is also closed off for the storage of equipment during the restoration.

A 30m safety zone has been erected around the site, both on land and in the harbour, and residents are advised to avoid swimming near the Jetty during this time.
