Me and My Ride: Motocross magic

JAYDEN Stronach has been riding motocross since he can remember, first having a ride with his dad when only a toddler.

Now, the 13-year-old is ready to progress to the most powerful bike he has ever ridden.

Currently competing in a number of series on his Kawasaki 2012 KX 85, Jayden has had little over an hour on a 2014 KX 250F.

The 250 will be his main ride come 2017, with the plan to ride both in 2016 competition.

Jayden knows 2016 is going to be tough riding two categories, and he will be racing against more experienced riders on the bigger bike.

But even with his limited knowledge and time on the bike, he knows what needs to change.

"If you don't give it enough revs going into jumps you are going to go over the bars," he said.

"The suspension is really hard as well."

He hopes to be ready to race by the end of this year, and needs to put in five hours' training under the guidance of a coach before being allowed to do so.

He rides at Yeppoon, Rockhampton and Bundaberg more than anywhere else - trips which are made with his dad Gary and sister Mia.

Mia is also becoming a motocross rider, getting around on her bike which she calls Bluey.

"I ride it at Red Rover, at the park and at my nan's place," she said.

"Last time I saw a stick on the ground and hit it and my pipe fell off, but my dad fixed it."
