PRO-Golfer Jason Day's wife is being assessed by medics after basketballer LeBron James collided with her during a game.

The Rockhampton golfer's wife, Ellie, was sitting courtside at a game between Cleveland and Oklahoma when the NBA superstar ran into her while chasing the ball.

James' full body weight fell on Ellie, who has been taken out of the arena on a stretcher and with her head in a brace.

James told Cleavland.com that Ellie seemed to be ok as she was taken away.

"She squeezed my hand, said she was fine," James said. "I think she was just a little weary."

"For me, obviously, her health is very important and hopefully she is doing well," James said.

"The guys told me she's doing great now. For me, just going for a loose ball, tried to keep the possession going, I just hate that that was the end result."

Jason was sitting beside Ellie when the incident happened, but he seems to have escaped injury.

Jason Day is Australia's highest ranked golfer. The pair have been married since 2009 and have a son and a daughter.
