James Hird requires medical clearance to coach game

JAMES Hird has shown signs of more improvement after his bicycle accident earlier this week, but requires a medical clearance to coach in tomorrow night's match against North Melbourne.

Hird was back at Essendon training yesterday, but returned home for more rest as he recovers from concussion sustained when he fell off his bike riding home from training on Monday night.

Club doctor Bruce Reid said Hird was more likely than not to get the clearance.

"His X-Rays and scans are normal, but he had a significant concussion so we'll just see how he comes up," Dr Reid said.
