Graduation for building team

IT was graduation time on Jetty Beach.

The “Building Foundations Team”, put together by Tursa Employment and Training, has been hard at work on a number of projects locally as part of a Work for the Dole program.

And yesterday they graduated.

“It’s a great thing for the guys and a great thing for the community,” Tursa Employment and Training’s community work experience co-ordinator Vicki Hooper said.

“It gives them back a feeling of self worth, their self-esteem and their enthusiasm for finding employment.”

The group completed works at Brelsford Park Activity Centre, Prince Street Park in Woolgoolga, the Jetty Foreshore Playground and the Coastal National Park at Mullaway, giving them skills needed for future employment in most aspects of civil works.

“About 33 per cent of people in the program find work directly from it, which is great,” Ms Hooper said.
