It's less than a week 'til Sikh

WITH the Sikh games less than a week away the committee are eagerly awaiting the opening ceremony on Friday.

At the opening ceremony there will be a flag raising of both the Australian and the Sikh flags, and singing of the national anthems. The teams will also parade.

This is the third time the Sikh games have been hosted by Woolgoolga, which is also home to the first Sikh temple in Australia. The games were first hosted by Woolgoolga in 1995 and again in 2003.

Many of the games will be played in Coffs Harbour at the BCU Stadium. Volleyball will be hosted by nearby John Paul College, golf on Saturday will be at the Coffs Harbour Golf Course and on Sunday at the Bonville Golf Club.

Sports included in the games are kabaddi, hockey, netball, soccer, tug-o-war, cricket and volleyball. Local referees are being utilised for the games.
