LETTER: It’s a sad life without pets for company

WITH reference to Kathy Sundstrum's article on the love of pets, I too cannot imagine life without a pet.

I've had dogs, cats and a mad budgie all who made me a better person.

My last pet died eight years ago again breaking my heart. I moved into a duplex that didn't allow pets as I didn't think I could handle losing another.

After two months I realised I had made a mistake in my move and had a big hole in my heart without an animal.

So after some soul searching I had an idea, I put up a sign at my local IGA to house sit people's pets, well I was stunned with the replies I got.

I was amazed at the people who let me into their homes and trusted me with their most valuable asset their pets.

I now have an extended family of dogs, cats, birds, fish and even chooks.

I'm a lucky person and to arrive at a home and have dogs and cats go silly when they see makes my day.

I'm no longer lonely and bless the day I put that one note up.

A life without a pet is so empty.
