It's a family affair for the creators of Frazzled.
COUSINS have collaborated to write a fun play for children to be presented by CHATS Productions next month.
Shirley Barnett and Dorothy Plummer have been close since childhood. As a six-year old, Shirley was staying in Dorothy's home when she contracted polio.
Shirley was in hospital for years and Dorothy was put in home quarantine, unable to go to school or play with friends. A difficult tome for both.
Fast forward to 2015. Dorothy arrives in Coffs on a visit. Shirley had spent the intervening years developing a career in theatre and TV, while Dorothy had chosen teaching and poetry.
The two discussed an idea for a musical play that was to become, "Frazzled”.
Enlisting the help of another cousin, actor Phil Zacharia, they set about translating their idea into reality. Dorothy wrote the book and lyrics, Shirley acted as dramaturg and director, and Phil wrote down the music with local composer William Jeffery putting it into professional shape.
