POLICE have rushed to the scene of a suspected West End break-in, only to find a rogue mudcrab loose in the kitchen.

A teenager called officers about 1.30am on Monday after hearing loud sounds coming from his kitchen.

When police arrived at the Montague Road house, there was no intruder to be found.

Instead, they spotted a mudcrab that had escaped from its box and was trying to make a run for it.

"The crab was restrained and returned to its confines," a police spokeswoman said.
