Ink and Chrome show shines
THE best alarm clock is sunshine on chrome, but someone forgot to tell visitors to Ink and Chrome 2011.
More than 300 people turned out on Saturday, despite heavy rain.
“The weather was a bit of a kick in the guts but we got there in the end,” organiser Chris Hawes said.
Fears the tattoo, classic car and bike show would be rained-out for the second year in a row were allayed by organisers mid-morning.
Mr Hawes said though numbers were down, a last-minute scramble meant everything planned for the day, except the live bands, went ahead.
The tattoo show was moved undercover to cope with the wet.
Women’s and men’s weightlifting competitions, an all-day DJ and stalls completed the program.
“The best thing about the day was the upbeat spirit,” Mr Hawes said. “Thanks to our sponsors and Wallabys it turned out great in the end.”
