Ingleby still champion longboarder
REIGNING ASP World Longboard Champion Harley Ingleby has shown that he’s lost none of his touch since being crowned as the best on the planet.
The Emerald Beach surfer was easily the pick of the bunch yesterday as he progressed through to the quarter-finals of the Golden Breed Men’s 1 Star LQS Pro during the hotly contested Noosa Festival of Surfing.
Ingleby included an excellent 8.00 ride in his two-wave heat tally to defeat Josh Cooper and eliminate Jackson Winter and Justin Redman from the event.
The natural footer has a battle on his hands for the title though, as the Noosa Festival is one event that everyone wants to win.
Since the Noosa Festival introduced a pro longboard event in the mid-1990s, it has been one of the most hotly contested meets on the planet.
Among the former world champions to have claimed the Noosa title are Bonga Perkins (three times), Josh Constable, Joel Tudor and Beau Young.
This week sees the exciting Californian pro Taylor Jensen defending the title he claimed last year, which will no doubt give the Coffs Coast hope a good run for his money.
