Information sessions planned for Bellingen environment fund

APPLICATIONS are invited for Bellingen Shire Council's 2014-15 Environmental Levy Community Fund.

The fund is a small grants program supporting community based environmental projects approved by the NSW Minister for Local Government.

Funding applications can be made by community groups to deliver projects up to a maximum value of $5000 each on public land or land that is readily accessible to the public.

Mayor Mark Troy encouraged community members who have a passion for the shire and local environment to consider applying for funding.

"Proposals improving all aspects of natural resource management and sustainability are welcome," he said.

"For example, bush regeneration, energy efficiency, water conservation and waste minimization.

"Projects could involve improving soil for local food production, caring for a local creek or river, or reducing plastic use."

Council is holding information sessions to assist potential applicants with their project ideas and applications.

These will be held at Urunga Neighbourhood Centre this Thursday, Dorrigo Support Centre on Friday and at Saturday's Bellingen Growers Market at the Showground.

Applications close on Wednesday, August 13.
