Industry briefings for Pacific Highway upgrade

THE Roads and Maritime Services in partnership with Pacific Complete are inviting interested contractors and suppliers to attend industry briefings about the 155 kilometre Woolgoogla to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade.

A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said Pacific Complete, comprising Laing O'Rourke and Parsons Brinckerhoff, will partner with the Pacific Highway Office to deliver the remaining upgrade link between Hexham and the Queensland border.

"The upgrade is one of the largest regional infrastructure projects under way in Australia and will generate significant business opportunities for contractors and suppliers," the spokesperson said.

"Both large and small companies are invited to get involved in these briefing sessions and start important initial conversations on how to get involved.

"Information will be provided about the Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade and current activities, the roles of Roads and Maritime and Pacific Complete, packaging and timing of the project delivery."

The first briefing will be held in Sydney at Rydges World Square, 389 Pitt Street, Sydney, on Friday 17 July. Registration will start at 8.30am for a 9am start.

Regional industry briefings for contractors and suppliers will be held at the following locations and times:

"The duplication of the Pacific Highway from Woolgoolga to Ballina will result in about 2500 direct jobs and 7500 indirect jobs at the project's peak.

"When complete the upgrade will reduce travel times from 130 minutes to about 105 minutes and reduce the distance travelled from Woolgoolga to Ballina by about 13 kilometres."
