In a close finish youth is winner

AND the Bonville/Sawtell Lions Club Youth of the Year is . . . Brendan Thorp!

In the final of the Bonville/Sawtell Lions Youth of the Year Quest, six students from Toormina High School came together to vie for the crown of Youth of the Year.

Each participated in an interview which focused on their community involvement, sporting and academic achievements.

They were judged by a panel of three judges - and the competition was close.

Following the interview, there was a dinner and judging award ceremony - at which each finalists was asked to give a five-minute prepared speech, followed by two impromptu speeches.

And although the standard of the finalists was highly commended, a winner had to be named, and Brendan Thorp had the edge.

Congratulations to Brendan and all the other finalists, each of whom are a credit to the community.
