IGA fundraisers for rescue chopper

THE NRMA CareFlight Helicopter Service is $48,010 richer thanks to some magnificent fundraising efforts from the Bellingen, Bowraville and Nambucca Heads IGA supermarkets.

Along with 17 other mid-coast stores from Gloucester to Woolgoolga, the money was raised through a concerted IGA Community Chest charity drive.

A charity dinner, dance and auction was held in Wauchope in January with over 140 sponsors, staff, store owners and visitors bidding keenly for items donated nationwide.

A golf day saw more dollars raised plus all stores organised their own fund-raising activities including trivia nights, raffles, lamington drives and even pancake days.

The funds were presented to CareFlight recently and will go towards funding the helicopter emergency medical retrieval service.
