Ian Thorpe found 'dazed and disorientated' near home

OLYMPIC champion Ian Thorpe was detained by police near his parents' home at 3.15am on Monday, according to news reports.

A police media spokeswoman said emergency services were called to a home in Panania Monday morning.

Police spoke to Thorpe, who was sitting in a vehicle outside the home, and he was then taken to hospital for assessment.

Network Ten reported that a 14-year-old boy heard a noise in the yard and came out onto the street.

''No official complaint has been made and no further police action is anticipated,'' police said.

Thorpe, who has been living in Switzerland for the past 18 months, has been staying with his parents over Christmas.

Channel 10 news reported Thorpe had been found ''dazed and disorientated''.
