Hunt hamstring injury worse than expected

THE Brisbane Broncos will see what it's like to be withouit Ben Hunt next year with the halfback set to miss at least NRL games with a torn hamstring.

Hunt, who will move to St George Illawarra at the end of this season, was only expected to be absent for three matches after getting injured in Thursday night's 32-8 win over the Roosters.

But yesterday scans revealed the strain to be worse than first thought, sidelining the No.7 for six to eight weeks.

To make matters worse for the Broncos, Benji Marshall, who have likely stepped in for Hunt, is also out after breaking his wrist in the Queensland Cup last week.

Kodi Nikorima will now likely stand-in for Hunt. He has experience in the halves, having taken the Broncos to an under-20s grand final in that position.

The Broncos havve won three and lost three after a tough draw but now face an easier run in the next two months.

The only other top-eight team they will face is Manly.
