How this Facebook group helps women make friends

AFTER moving to Toowoomba and finding it hard to make friends, Brittany Clark created a Facebook group with the purpose of helping women meet new people.

The Toowoomba Girls Friendship Group has more than 400 members on Facebook.

"It feels harder to make friends as an adult," Ms Clark said.

"As a kid you just walk up to someone and say 'will you be my friend?'.

"The group is about meeting people with the intention of making friends, because a lot of the time you don't hang out outside of work, or you meet people and you don't keep in contact after that.

"Having a designated group for making friends gives it a bit of a purpose."

The group held its first meet-up at the weekend with a picnic in Queens Park.

"It was nice realising how many women want to put themselves out there, and are willing to get out of their comfort zone," Ms Clark said.

Ms Clark said she hoped to have monthly meet-ups.
