How experts slash costs using Kaizen principles
WORLD experts in Kaizen business principles have helped Gympie businesses cut costs in a matter of hours.
Their visit to Nestle yesterday achieved great results in just two hours, host Julie Williams of Agsolutions said.
A presentation from the visiting business advisors on Thursday attracted about 100 businesses; the majority from the Gympie region.
Julie, who has been implementing the Kaizen methods of continual improvement since 2008, has reduced operational costs by $60,000 annually.
"That's not by firing people, but by reducing a process that required five people down to two people and redirecting the extra three to cope with an increasing capacity," she said.
"We also reduced our operational space. We cut down our floor space by one third so we were able to do something else with that area."
When the Kaizen team offered to bring out a team to help on Agsolutions' shop floor, Julie jumped at the chance and organised their only Australian public engagement for Gympie businesses.
She is looking at organising a second trip in May for the team return and assist with businesses in Gympie.
