Couple fight off intruder

WE’RE not sure who was shocked the most – the robber or the couple who disturbed him in their Sawtell home.

A husband and wife returned to their 18th Avenue house on Tuesday morning and discovered a man on an upstairs landing. The woman challenged the intruder but she lost her balance and fell down the stairs.

The man rushed past her and out the front door but the husband struggled with him and chased him into the street but lost sight of him.

The couple discovered $150 had been stolen from a wallet.

The thief is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged 16 to 18, with a slim build, clean shaven and dark hair.

He’s about 180cm tall and was wearing a black baseball cap.
