House broken into while doing the school run
A BEACONSFIELD house has been broken into while the resident has picked their children up from school.
In a carefully timed short ten minute window between 2.55pm and 3.05pm on March 21, one burglar gained entry into the property on Cassia Street.
Through the back of the house, the offender found an unlocked door and stole a purse containing cash and identification cards.
Police have said with most burglars in the district, they often do things relentlessly and don't intend on targeting a specific house but rather search for easy entry points.
Anyone who resides in this area (or travelled through around this time) and saw any suspicious behaviour is encouraged to call the Mackay Northern Beaches police station on 0749 697 666 or you can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. The police reference number to quote is QP1800531801.
Police are urging residents to take the extra minute and check home security.
They said they often get reports of burglars gaining entry through the back door.
Locking the front doors and windows isn't enough as burglars will check everything - balconies, front, side and back doors/windows.
