HOT TOPICS: Sharing the road with caravans
SPEED and space are the two key gripes to be had between the two tribes of road users, truckies and caravan drivers.
More often then not, truck drivers searching for a rest stop to park for the night, find the area taken by a caravan.
Readers shared their thoughts on the use of illegal campers after reading our story detailing those gripes.
Anna Kostakos: Why doesn't common sense prevail??? Why aren't campers fined for parking in truck stops, yet our truckies get HUGE fines for doing 15 mins over their times??? Just BS.
Matt Moy: Last week Sat morning Wardell rest area bunch of P platers must of been from schoolies all 20m apart and sleeping on the ground! Almost ran over the top of them.
Karen Butler: There's a place for caravans... Its called a caravan park... If they're to stingy to pay for their accommodation then stay at home.
Paul Finn: $660 fine for the caravans will soon put a end to the pricks parking in truck rest areas.
Bob Prideaux: Caravaners should have a licence and do a towing course, a lot of these issues could be brought up.
Paul Mackieson: I think that Vic roads/tog officially should find the campers that should be there towed away
