Hospital to have Ebola scare handling reviewed

AN INDEPENDENT investigation into the handling of a potential case of Ebola and other cases of diseases in recent weeks will be launched in and around Cairns.

Queensland Health on Tuesday announced it would appoint the "independent review panel" to investigate the first case of a health worker tested for the Ebola virus, as well as other "recent infectious disease cases", understood to include recent tuberculosis cases in the region.

Department chief operation officer Dr Michael Cleary said the review would include disease and legal experts and ensure a "robust and impartial evaluation of how recent infectious disease cases were handled".
