Homegrown highlight: The Living End

AUSSIE rockers The Living End were looking nervous ahead of their set at Splendour in the Grass on Saturday night.

Lead singer, Chris Cheney asked for a beer to calm his nerves, while drummer Andy Strachan bounced around drumming on every available metallic surface and bassist Scott Owen  did all the final checks while soaking in the atmosphere.

Fans chanted the bands name moments before they rolled onto stage.

And the looks on the bands faces said it all.

But the nerves instantly vanished for the boys of The Living End when they saw the crowd and realised they were “among friends”.

High expectations for the show were met and exceeded as the boys delivered every song with intensity and passion plus some theatrics.

Playing all their major hits including Second Solution, White Noise and Roll On plus a few new songs.

But it was the anthemic tune Prisoner in Society that brought the house down and caused more than a few crowd surfers to be pulled out of the moshpit and ejected from the area.

Owen pulled off some rock-star moves with the help of his double bass and Cheney even got in on the action, balancing on the top of the bass.

The Living End for this Splendour goer was the highlight for day two of the festival.
