Home invasion photo released

DETECTIVES investigating a home invasion at Palmers Island earlier this year have released a Comfit image of one of the offenders.

Detective Matt Sippel of Strike Force Sharon said the response to a The Daily Examiner article last Friday was pleasing and with the public's assistance, they were getting closer to identifying the suspects.

“It was very pleasing to get the feedback we did; Clarence Valley people obviously will not tolerate this type of violence in our community,” he said.

As a result of Strike Force Sharon inquiries, a facial reconstruction was put together and police believe it is a close likeness to one of the offenders.

“We know we are close to identifying this suspect. As I said previously, we have not ruled out that this person is from outside the area, but we are confident someone will know them,” Det Sippel said.

Exhibits, including a cap found at the home invasion, were being forensically tested.

“We are hopeful this testing will identify the suspects,” Det Sippel said.

Police are again calling on the public's assistance to identify the person. Phone Strike Force Sharon detectives on 66420222 or call Crimestoppers on 1800333000.

Meanwhile, police are looking for public help to catch thieves who broke into the Yamba Golf Club on August 17-18 and again on Monday night.

Images of people around the club before and during the break-in have been captured on closed circuit television.

Police said an amount of cash and alcohol was stolen.

Anyone with information about these break-ins should contact Yamba Police.
