Home destroyed by fire overnight
A HOME has been destroyed by fire at Newee Creek in a blaze that burned for almost five hours.
NSW Fire and Rescue and Rural Fire Service crews were called to the Miller Rd property last night just after 8.30pm.
The timber and iron sheeting residence was well alight.
The first firefighters on scene had strong concerns the occupants may have been home at the time, but those fears were put at rest when the owners were found to be away for the night.
The fire was so strong flames caused the roof to collapse.
Fire investigators are expected to visit the scene this morning to try to establish the cause of the blaze.
In a busy week for Mid North Coast fire crews, a large blaze broke out at a Kempsey Recycling depot.
The fire happened in a pile of scrap metal and wrecked car bodies as a front end loader was moving goods.
At the height of the inferno, explosions could be heard from motor vehicle fuel tanks and LPG gas cylinders.
The extent of the fire was captured in the photos of bystanders.
The fire was attacked by NSW Fire & Rescue and Rural Fire Service Crews who brought the flames under control after about an hour.
