Home cooks to dish up goods

HOME cooks Ellen Brennan and Keith Street will line up against award-winning Emerald Beach chef Dustin Bowie-Ford in a cook-off at today's Growers Market in Coffs Harbour City Square.

The two amateurs are finalists in the Show Us Ya Dish competition, run by the Coffs Coast Food Alliance.

Dustin Bowie-Ford is the winner of the 2010 Mid North Coast Signature Dish Award.

All three will begin the search for their ingredients at noon; begin cooking at 12.30pm and finish at 1.30pm when the results of their efforts will be judged by a panel of experts and foodlovers.

The MC for the event will be writer and broadcaster Phil Dudman and the judging panel will include ABC radio Mid North Coast breakfast presenter Fiona Poole.

“The competition was a fun way of showcasing the talent and the abundance and variety of food grown on the Coffs Coast,” said Growers Market co-ordinator Jan Rooney.

Show Us Ya Dish gave amateur chefs as opportunity to publicise their signature dish on Food Alliance website, www.coffscoastlocalfood.com.au.

The only rule was all the ingredients had to be sourced from Coffs Coast producers.

The winner will receive a set of Scanpan saucepans and have their recipe published.
