ONE of the most popular social events on the Sunshine Coast calendar has been bolstered with an impressive headline act joining the festivities.

The Hot 91.1 Ladies Oaks Day is gearing up to transform Caloundra's Corbould Park into an entertainment hub packed with fashion, food and racing.

This year's entertainment will feature Australian hip hop group the Thundamentals.

The addition of the hit music trio has proven a popular choice with Sunshine Coast Turf Club's CEO Mick Sullivan expecting large crowds on Friday.

"Ticket sales online this year are way up on previous years and we are looking for a very successful and very good day," Mr Sullivan said.

"We expect around the 8000 (mark). It's a very good crowd for us.

"Having the band Thundamentals, it's created a lot of interest as well, they are a very high profile band."

Mr Sullivan said crowds would also be boosted with the Caloundra community enjoying a show holiday on Friday.

"It's always a great day and a lot of people come out and have a fun social day and it's a great way to spend the Caloundra show day holiday," he said.

The Ladies Oaks Day will feature an eight-race program, with the Morayfield Shopping Centre Fillies and Mares Handicap having $20,000 in prize money up for grabs.

The jockeys and horse owners won't be the only ones chasing some cash, with the best dressed race goer on Friday in the running to win $13,000 worth of prizes in the Morayfield Shopping Centre's Fashions on the Field.

The Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program at the Sunshine Coast Private Hospital will be the main beneficiary of the Ladies Oaks Day.
