Highway vehicle stop leads to cocaine supply charges

CHARGES have been laid after more than 1kg of cocaine was seized during a vehicle stop in Coffs Harbour.

About 2.20pm on Thursday, officers attached to Coffs Clarence Local Area Command stopped a vehicle travelling north along the Pacific Hwy.

Police spoke to the sole occupant of the vehicle, a 56-year-old Queensland man, before searching the vehicle, where more than 1kg of cocaine was allegedly found and seized.

The man was arrested at the scene and taken to the new Coffs Harbour police station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug - large commercial quantity and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail, to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
