Highs and lows of schoolboys footy for Toormina
The Under 16s did it easy against Mountview High School from Cessnock holding the visitors out for a strong 26-0 victory in the Buckley Shield at Rex Hardaker Oval.
Coach Kyah Schwartz said it was a real team effort with the big win forged on the back of not just blistering attack, but solid defence.
"They are now down to the last 16 schools in the state and will play Lurnea High School in Sydney," Schwartz said.
Standout players were Malakhi Donovan, Tim Bull and Grady Spokes.
In the Uni Shield, Toormina went down narrowly to Taree High School 22-18.
In a close, hard fought game, both teams scored four tries each.
For Toormina, Jahni Kemp played a captain's knock, leading from the front for the whole game.
Coach Adam Berrada also made special mention of Ryan Pemberton, Bailey Watt and Angus Dam who went to hospital with a suspected broken cheekbone or jaw.
